Definitions
The School refers to the Florida School of Addictions Studies. When reference is made to the University of North Florida, that reference will be so identified by UNF or the UNIVERSITY.
Full Track or Course refers to a 20-hour track that runs for the full four days (100 series) of the school.
Mini Track or Course refers to a 10-hour track offered either Monday and Tuesday (200 series) or Wednesday and Thursday (300 series) of the school.
Plenary Sessions refers to presentation made for the entire student body, which are of general interest. Please note that you must provide a plenary attendance slip to your track dean for each session attended if you desire credit for attendance.
Facilities and Registration
In a retreat-like setting, the UNF campus sits right in the middle of a 1,300 acre nature preserve on the southern edge of suburban Jacksonville. UNF's new, ultramodern University Center offers you an opportunity to concentrate, reflect, and plan a world away from the noisy distractions of everyday life, all under one roof. The dress code is comfortable, casual attire.
All requests for information regarding FSAS Registration should be directed to FSAS Operations Manager. All courses are available on a first-come, first paid, first-served basis. Full fee payment must accompany the completed registration form. Many professionals, organizations and groups hold their regularly scheduled business meetings during the school. Any organization that wants to schedule a meeting concurrently with the school should direct its request to the Operations Manager.
The registration desk will open at 10:00am on Sunday, July 17, 2011 in the main lobby of the University Center. UNF on-campus housing assignments will also be available at that time at the UNF University Center Office.

Student Orientation
A brief student orientation session will be held in the University Center Auditorium on Monday morning during the Opening Ceremony and Plenary Session at 8:00am, to answer any questions concerning the schedule, facilities, CEU/PDH's, etc. It is recommended that both new and returning students attend to learn about what to expect during the week of training and events.
Meals
Registration fees include lunch, except for lunch on Thursday, as well as the Tuesday evening buffet dinner and dance. All meals will be served in the University Center's dining area.
First Lunch:
12:00pm to 1:00pm (Monday-Wednesday) for Even # Classes
Second Lunch:
12:30pm to 1:30pm (Monday-Wednesday) for Odd # Classes
Non-Participants Policy
The FSAS's insurance policy, operating policy, and contract with the University of North Florida exclude coverage of individuals who are not registered as participants of the Florida School of Addictions Studies. Please make arrangements for children or other individual's care outside the training area.
Mid-Term Break
Tuesday afternoon sessions end at 4:00pm to provide students with a time of relaxation, fun, and fellowship. All students, exhibitors, faculty and board are invited to the Tuesday evening Dinner Dance, Talent Show and Silent Auction.
Tuesday Night Events
Make plans now for the Tuesday evening celebration, our theme for the 2011 FSAS event theme has yet to be decided. Come celebrate with music, dance, dress and food. This fun filled evening will include some great music for listening and dancing, a Talent Show featuring great acts from our own talented students and faculty, and a Silent Auction.
The Tuesday evening events will take place in the University Center on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 5:30pm until 9:30pm. Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner before the dancing and talent show, while you participate in the silent auction of various donated items, then get ready for some real competition with our live auction of some special donated items. Items for auctions will be available for preview on Tuesday afternoon before the events. Make plans now to attend for a great time, great food, and lots of fun and fellowship.
We encourage you to have fun and also to be respectful of your fellow students and community standards, as we celebrate safe and sober.
Note Admission is included with your paid registration or exhibitor fees. Your FSAS name badge or purchased guest ticket is required for admittance. Additional guest tickets will be available at the registration counter until 12:00pm Tuesday at a cost of $18.00 per person.
Continuing Education Units (CEU's)
The school has been approved or applied for Continuing Education Units, Professional Development Hours, and certification and re-certification credits from the following professional groups and organization. Specific questions should be directed to staff at the CEU table at the school.
In keeping with the spirit and intent of Continuing Education Credits for maintenance of professional credentials, it is the policy of the FSAS to allow credit for completion of course work once within a three-year period. Students are "CAUTIONED" not to take the same course material more than once in any given three-year period, as credit may be denied by the approved credentialing authority. A credentialing authority can invoke such denial of approval even though the course subject material was acquired from two different sources. If the course subject material from two or more sources is essentially the same content and level, credits may be denied. If you have any doubt or questions in this regard, you are encouraged to check with your specific credentialing authority for ruling before enrolling in a given course with FSAS.

The 2010 FSAS will adjourn at 1:30pm on Thursday, July 21.
Attendance Certificates Certificates will be awarded at the conclusion of the school to all registered students who attend the required sessions, and will document the actual number of course hours attended. Certificates should be maintained by the student for verification of attendance to the respective credentialing or licensing authority. There is a $10.00 fee for duplicate or replacement attendance certificates.
Credit for Plenary Attendance If you desire credit for plenary attendance, you must provide a plenary attendance slip to your track dean for each session attended.
Housing and other Accommodations
On Campus Housing The University of North Florida welcomes the opportunity to provide on-campus housing for the 2011 FSAS. Please refer to the University Center page for Housing Registration information and pre-registration form.
Off Campus Accommodations FSAS has contracted with two fine area hotels for off campus accommodations. Please refer to the Conference Hotels page for detailed information regarding location, amenities and rates.
Florida Certification Board
(FCB), Provider #144A, for substance abuse counselors, prevention specialists, behavioral health technicians, and criminal justice professionals in the State of Florida.
Your registration and completion of the CAP Preparation Course DOES NOT register nor qualify you for the Florida Certification Board written exams.

Meetings, Recreation, and Announcements
Open meetings for members and guests Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Overeaters Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, Sex Addicts Anonymous and other self-help groups will meet on a regular basis in the evenings during the School. These open meetings can be very supportive for members, and informative for counselors, therapists, family members and guests. Area beaches, shopping, movies, historical sites and other recreation are within a short driving distance from the University. General information and directions will be available at the registration counter. A general notice board for posting messages will be located in the Registration/Exhibit are at the School. The Board will include a "Jobs" and "Messages" section for your use.

Check out the Exhibits The exhibits are a valuable part of the Florida School of Addictions Studies. They Provide an excellent opportunity to network and gather information about organizations and the resources that they can provide. Time will be Provided for all attendees to visit the exhibit in the main hallway of the University Center. A number of activities have been scheduled to take place in this area to provide adequate time for interaction between attendees and exhibitors.
