ABOUT THE TRAINER:

Dr. Ram Upadhyay comes to us from Springfield College, School of Human Services, Tampa, Fl campus.  He is Assistant Director of Academic Services since 2000.  In the course of his career Dr. Ram, as he is known, has lent invaluable support and guidance to numerous students through the assessment process, provided written feedback to students and review and assess their materials in portfolios, evaluate certificates and training, complete prior learning awards, notify registrar of awards.  Dr. Ran also created and developed a course in Human Services and Portfolio Development. 

 

He has trained faculty assessors in following the School of Humar services policies as well as Council for Adult and Experiential Learning guideline.  He has won many honors and awards and was the recipient of a scholarship for International Students at the University of Connecticut.  Dr. Ram was the recipient of a Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship also fro the University of Connecticut and recipient of Nepal America Educations Foundation Scholarship.  We are proud to have Dr. Upadhyay as a participant of the Florida School of Addictions Studies.

COURSE SYNOPSIS: The field of addictions has evolved into a system of many sub systems working with individuals of diverse populations. For example, there are ethnic populations that do not fare well in traditional treatment systems. Therefore, these populations seek out other treatment sources that do not fit in the traditional system. In this seminar we will explore the importance of non-traditional treatment approached and together design an action plan outline that can be of use at their agencies.
